Every day, we hear Health Care Providers (HCPs) say they aren't sure how to manage eating disorder care. This was always a concern, but has become a much larger issue as of late due to the significant uptick in eating disorders. HCPs are now seeing eating disorder referrals come in on a weekly, if not daily, basis, and most education and training programs have little content covering eating disorder care. This leaves continuing education as one of the few ways to build competence in eating disorder care. We’ve created a training course for just that! But if you’re not ready for 12 hours of hands-on training, we have developed a new resource - Eating Disorders in Youth: A Field Guide for Health Care Providers.

Build your foundational knowledge.

HCPs consistently share they are afraid of saying or doing something wrong with eating disorder patients, so they don't say anything at all. They are feeling unequipped and overwhelmed, but the number of eating disorder cases is not going away. We have created the Eating Disorders in Youth field guide to help. We want to support HCPs in this unprecedented time. With this resource, you can build your foundational knowledge on eating disorders and feel more confident when you encounter eating disorder cases. Most HCPs tell us this resource stays within arm’s reach!

What's Inside?

Our 12-page field guide will take you through the basics of eating disorders from all angles. You will learn about…

  • Early detection of eating disorders
  • Screening for indicators of eating disorders
  • Medical conditions associated with eating disorders

...and much more.

This guide is ideal for HCPs to build their foundational knowledge of eating disorders. It is concise, easy to reference, and contains all the information you need to effectively detect an eating disorder and begin advocating for your patient to access the treatment they need.

Who is this resource for?

Many health care providers can benefit from this guide. We’ve had physicians, pediatricians, nurses, nurse practitioners, dietitians, social workers, psychotherapists and more benefit from using this resource. Many students of these professions tell us this is also a great tool to have while they are studying or completing clinical placements. While the units of measurement in the guide are specific to Canadians, it is a tool that can benefit HCPs worldwide.
