Telehealth allows our team to serve individuals and families across Canada, in both urban and rural communities.
Telehealth is the delivery of healthcare remotely - all you need is a computer, tablet or smart phone. We use a secure platform for video calls to ensure our clients’ privacy, as well as maintaining detailed health records. From the comfort of their own homes, clients meet with our team of Registered Dietitians and Registered Psychotherapists/Registered Counselling Therapists to engage in effective eating disorder care.
Telehealth an effective way to deliver eating disorder care.
Research demonstrates that eating disorder treatment offered through telehealth reduces eating disorder symptoms, depression, anxiety, perfectionism, caregiver burden, and hospital admissions. Online eating disorder treatment improves weight, self-esteem, quality of life, and caregiver self-confidence. When in-person and online treatment are compared, they both decrease eating disorder symptoms to a similar extent.
Research also suggests that clients view telehealth highly and as good as or better than face-to-face treatment. Clients who attend telehealth appointments for eating disorder recovery are satisfied with their care.
