Hi. I’m Jillian Walsh, RD, RP
I am the founder and Clinical Lead at Change Creates Change. I’m an Eating Disorder Care Provider and I work with folks across all ages who are living with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
ARFID, sometimes referred to as “extreme picky eating,” is a clinical diagnosis that is slowly becoming better known since first being added to the DSM-5 in 2013. Folks living with ARFID may have thought for years that they were “different” or the “odd one out,” only now realizing that it is not their choice, not their fault and that there is a name for it - ARFID.
Although ARFID is classified as an eating disorder in the DSM-5, its treatment often differs quite significantly from other eating disorders like anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder. Compared to other eating disorders, there are far less ARFID treatment centres and unfortunately research on ARFID is very limited.
Since returning from parental leave last year, I have focused on supporting folks living with ARFID from the lens of both a dietitian and a counselling therapist. I have created this course based on my knowledge and experience combined with the most recent evidence-based practice guidelines.
Let's support folks living with ARFID, together.
